The Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre (MFNERC) in Manitoba, Canada, serves approximately 2,300 students within their own school system and another 11,000 students throughout the province. MFNERC supports Indigenous communities as they take control of their education systems. Committed to empowering these communities with modern educational tools, MFNERC plays a key role in their self-governance.
Before adopting ClassLink, MFNERC faced several obstacles. Access to digital resources was inconsistent, particularly in remote communities. Managing digital tool licenses was inefficient, leading to time-consuming processes in maintaining accurate student accounts. The centre also lacked insight into how effectively digital resources were being used, which made it difficult to assess their impact. Additionally, there were significant concerns about the security of sensitive student data, adding to the urgency for a solution.
ClassLink provided MFNERC with a comprehensive suite of tools that revamped their digital infrastructure. With LaunchPad, students gained secure access to educational resources. Roster Server simplified student rostering and improved license allocation. Tyler Porznak, MFNERC E-Learning Systems Administrator, noted, "Roster Server is seamless. It is secure and there’s no excess data going through." The Analytics tool provided insights into digital resource usage, helping to ensure effective spending. OneSync maintained accurate and up-to-date school licensing.
With these solutions in place, MFNERC improved access to digital resources and enhanced the security of student data, enabling them to support Indigenous communities in their pursuit of educational independence and provide students with essential tools for success.
ClassLink has provided a lot of digital tools that our communities didn’t have allowing them to develop their own curriculum.
