Located in Wilmington, Delaware, Odyssey Charter School integrates Greek language and culture into every student’s experience. As the school’s digital environment evolved, leadership prioritized both accessibility and data protection. IT Manager Dino Charalambides is responsible for ensuring staff and students can securely access the tools they need while protecting sensitive data behind the scenes. That responsibility became even more urgent as the number of digital tools and platforms used for teaching and learning continued to grow.
Challenge
Odyssey needed to keep up with the pace of digital learning while maintaining strong safeguards for student and staff information. With a small IT team, manually managing login credentials, creating accounts, and verifying identity for so many users became increasingly difficult. The school required a system that could automate routine processes and enhance security.
Solution
Dino turned to ClassLink to streamline access and strengthen data protection. With LaunchPad, students and staff have a single, secure portal to access all their digital resources. OneSync automates account provisioning across systems, reducing manual work and ensuring users always have the right access at the right time.Security features like DataGuard provide visibility into the apps requesting student data and allow the school to flag or block risky or unnecessary data requests before a breach occurs.
To simplify access while keeping systems secure, Odyssey also implemented facial recognition for student logins and two-step authentication for staff. These features allow for quick, seamless access while adding critical layers of protection.
Results
With ClassLink, Odyssey Charter School is better equipped to defend against security threats. DataGuard proactively identifies unusual or suspicious activity, allowing Dino’s team to stop potential breaches before they happen. Facial recognition has sped up student logins dramatically, giving teachers more time for instruction instead of managing forgotten passwords.
ClassLink has also improved accuracy and saved time through Roster Server. For example, Dino cited that when a student’s email address is misspelled during a data entry process, the error can be flagged and corrected automatically overnight—something that previously could have taken a week to resolve. Now, Odyssey has a system that supports secure learning while giving valuable time back to both staff and students.
“ClassLink has the ability to do almost anything you need. I can’t imagine doing my job right now, in an education environment, without ClassLink.”
