Partner Spotlight: The Science of Phonics Shed

The best and most effective way for children to learn to read is through phonics. Reading starts with phonemic and phonological awareness - the skills of working with the sounds within words. Systematically learning phoneme-grapheme correspondences allows children to segment and blend words using those sounds. Phonics Shed is narrative driven and multi-sensory so uses stories, actions songs and activities to teach a phonic approach to reading within a clearly structured format. We will talk about how that works in classrooms and the impact that it has had.
