CoSN and AASA will launch Season 9 of the EmpowerED Superintendents edLeader Panel Series on Sept. 14.
The 2026-2027 monthly broadcast season—sponsored by ClassLink and broadcast on edWeb.net—begins with “Leading and Sustaining Technology Innovations in Today’s School District Settings.” The primary focus of the broadcast will be an overview of the key findings of the recently released CoSN U.S. State of EdTech 2026 Report.
Three leading-edge superintendents engage in conversation with Paula Maylahn, CoSN’s project director for the CoSN U.S. State of EdTech 2026 Report. The superintendents will share their perspectives on how the key findings of the report manifest themselves in their school districts.
Key findings in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, procurement, and teaching and learning will be discussed.
Superintendents featured on the Sept. 14 broadcast include Dr. Teresa Brown, CoSN 2026 Superintendent of the Year, who leads Madison Consolidated Schools in Indiana; Dr. Kelly May-Vollmar, superintendent of Desert Sands USD in California; and Dr. Nick Polyak, Superintendent of Leyden High School District 212, Illinois. Ann McMullan, the project director for the CoSN/AASA EmpowerED Superintendents Initiative, serves as the panel moderator.
FCC Review of E-Rate
In early June 2026, CoSN published an official statement regarding the Federal Communications Commission’s plans to review the E-Rate program. In the published statement, CoSN acknowledges the critical connectivity support E-Rate provides to school districts.
CoSN is also pleased to provide a Guide for Filing E-Rate Comments with the FCC. School leaders can use this submission form to send a message to their members of Congress expressing support for E-Rate and inform them about the impact that losing the program will have on their districts.
