Troubleshoot Faster with New Partner Access Windows

September 10, 2026
Back to Blog

Beginning September 17th, Partner Access Windows (PAW) and Partner Launch Preview (PLP) will launch for ClassLink customers and Partners.

Partner Access Windows (PAW): how a school or district gives a software partner temporary, permission-based access.

Partner Launch Preview: what a partner can actually do with that access: log into their own app as if they were one of the school’s users, to see exactly what that user sees.

What Does That Mean for You?

By default, partners working in the Partner Portal will see smart-masked customer data. When full data visibility is needed for testing, troubleshooting, or support, a partner can request a temporary Partner Access Window from the school or district.

Once a PAW is approved, the partner will have full visibility into the customer data available to them in the Partner Portal for the duration of the access window.

An active PAW also allows the partner to use Partner Launch Preview to launch their own application as a specific user, giving them a firsthand look at that user's experience when investigating an issue.

Note: Partner Access Windows are temporary by design. Your organization maintains full control over when access begins, how long it lasts, and when it ends.

Making a Partner Access Window inactive immediately removes the vendor's access, even if the original expiration date has not yet been reached.

What to Expect Starting September 17th

When a partner requests access, Tenant Admins will receive a LaunchPad notification and can review the request from the Controlled Access page in the CMC’s Security Center. From there, administrators can approve or deny the request and extend an approved access window if additional time is needed.

As September 17th approaches, we encourage Tenant Admins to review our Partner Access Window Help Article and our July Partnerships With A Purpose blog to become familiar with the new experience.

Partners may begin submitting requests once the feature launches, so knowing what those notifications mean and where to manage them will help your team respond when access is needed.
