CL-501: Integrating the Internet in your Teaching

Overview
Course Description:
Technology has wedged its way into almost every aspect of our day-to-day lives. From cell phones to shopping online to IPods, technology is everywhere. Unfortunately, technology in schools is sometimes not as current or as efficient as what our students are used to. Some teachers might even be hesitant to try out techology in their classrooms for fear of glitches or simply because they do not know how to use it. In this course, we will review simple and easy ways to integrate technology into the classroom, specifically through the Internet.
Course Goals/Objectives:
- Review Internet basics
- Hands on activities for teachers to participate in online courses, forums, etc.
- Discuss online opportunities such as practice tests, modifying instruction, etc.
Materials:
To participate in this course, you will need the following:
- Internet connected computer

II. Planning and Designing Learning Environments and Experiences
Teachers plan and design effective learning environments and experiences supported by technology. Teachers:
- Design developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that apply technology-enhanced instructional strategies to support the diverse needs of learners.
- Apply current research on teaching and learning with technology when planning learning environments and experiences.
- Identify and locate technology resources and evaluate them for accuracy and suitability.
- Plan for the management of technology resources within the context of learning activities.
- Plan strategies to manage student learning in a technology-enhanced environment.
