CLIFTON, NJ, November 18, 2011 — ClassLink is proud to announce that their leader and CEO, Berj Akian, has won EdTech Digest’s 2011 Visionary Award. Akian founded ClassLink in 1998 with a goal to create a strong foundation for the expansion of technology in education. Since then ClassLink has grown to serve over 2.6 million students and teachers across the nation. ClassLink’s award winning and industry leading solutions include LaunchPad, ClassMate, OnTrack and Inquiry.

“In a crowded field of entries, it’s exciting to acknowledge those companies and products making the biggest difference,” said Victor Rivero, Editor-in-Chief of EdTech Digest. “Despite the challenges, innovation in education is alive, well-and expanding like never before. Quality, access and real results are the defining characteristics of our honorees, and will be precisely what moves education forward into its next iteration. This year’s honorees have done well to achieve such goals.”

About Berj Akian
There is a great adage about how often in life 1 degree makes all the difference. Berj is passionate about finding those 1 degrees and making a big difference in improving education. Knowing that a great carpenter is only masterful with the right tools, Berj set out to improve education through building the best tools for students and teachers. What started as an effort to help one local school integrate a cutting-edge technology environment became a stepping stone that would lead to the establishment of ClassLink, Inc. Prior to paving a new foundation for technology in the educational realm, Berj was with Technology Crossover Ventures, a leading mezzanine venture capital firm. Previous to TCV, he specialized in restructurings and attest services for large technology and educational publishing clients with Arthur Andersen. Akian graduated cum laude from Baruch College in New York.
