ClassLink Announces Winner of
Annual Scholarship Competition
CLIFTON, NJ, June 15, 2009 — ClassLink – delivering 24/7 access to K-12 learning tools - is pleased to announce the recipient of their 6th Annual ClassLink College Scholarship Program. The program is open to high school seniors at participating ClassLink schools who are interested in furthering their education at a two or four-year college. This year’s winner is Tinishia Federer, a Baking and Pastry Arts Program student from Lancaster County Career and Technology Center, Mount Joy, PA.
A member of the National Technical Honor Society, Federer’s selection was based on the recommendations of her teachers and employer, as well as her essay on how technology is being used effectively in the classroom to improve learning and instruction. Her references praise not only her creative, “exceptional” work in the culinary field, but also her written work, self-motivation, leadership abilities, and interpersonal skills. Federer is enrolled at Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, NC, and will continue her baking and pastry arts education there in the fall.
“Keeping priorities straight,” says Federer, is what allowed her to balance school, part-time work and activities such as track and field and church youth group. “The best decision of my life” is how Federer describes attending LCCTC; she will gain additional experience over the summer at Byers Butterflake Bakery in Leola, PA.
Berj Akian, ClassLink CEO, states, “Ms. Federer’s academic excellence, thoughtful essay and obvious commitment to her chosen career make her an ideal candidate for this award. We are confident she will continue to excel, and we wish her the best of luck.”
The ClassLink College Scholarship is an essay competition and recognizes students who have demonstrated academic success while maintaining a well-rounded life outside of their scholarly pursuits. Since its inception in 2004, the scholarship program rewards deserving students in the ClassLink network of schools. ClassLink ClassMate, 2009 winner of the prestigious CODiE award for Best Classroom Management Solution, is the only student administration and curriculum management software exclusively designed for Career and Technical Education (CTE).
