National Ed Tech Plan - the Map is Here and Clear
The U.S. Department of Education lays out milestones for Transforming American Education: Learning Powered by Technology.* As we approach the end of the first decade of the 21st Century, this report provides valuable checkpoints to evaluate where our individual districts stand. The plan calls out five specific areas where it's crucial to have specific technology goals: Learning, Teaching, Assessment, Infrastructure and Productivity. Reading the report may reinforce the focus of agendas already in place but may also energize new ideas and areas of emphasis. Key Quotes: "Our model of infrastructure for learning is always on, available to students, educators, and administrators regardless of their location or the time of day. It supports not just access to information, but access to people and participation in online learning communities." "The model of 21st century learning requires new and better ways to measure what matters, diagnose strengths and weaknesses in the course of learning when there is still time to improve student performance, and involve multiple stakeholders in the process of designing, conducting, and using assessment." Review the entire plan (available at the link below) to see if your district is fulfilling the 21st Century model and to study specific challenges to be faced. |
